Wild Geese

You do not have to be good.
You do not have to walk on your knees
For a hundred miles through the desert, repenting.
You only have to let the soft animal of your body
love what it loves.
Tell me about your despair, yours, and I will tell you mine.
Meanwhile the world goes on.
Meanwhile the sun and the clear pebbles of the rain
are moving across the landscapes,
over the prairies and the deep trees,
the mountains and the rivers.
Meanwhile the wild geese, high in the clean blue air,
are heading home again.
Whoever you are, no matter how lonely,
the world offers itself to your imagination,
calls to you like the wild geese, harsh and exciting --
over and over announcing your place
in the family of things.

weekend lovelies

As per usual, school has taken over my life and my poor little blog has been neglected.  But I have very much enjoyed being a busy bee... I'll do an entry of schoolwork at some point, to show what I've been up to, but here's just some stuff I like.

I've loved blown glass ever since my brother gave me a green blown glass bird for my birthday five or six years ago.  Thanks Zach. :)

I want to do something like this... the chairs, the light, the ornaments-- mmmm!  So cute.

Today was the first machine-knitting class that I felt was truly successful... We were designing our own jacquard knit designs, and I charted and made a punch-card for a bow design.

I still have a few adjustments to do now that I've seen it knit up, but OMG BOWS!  Yay. :)

Why is Missy Higgins so darn cute?  She always is a main player in my music rotation this time of year.  Currently listening obsessively to....

Happy Thanksgiving in advance to those of you who celebrate it!  Those who don't, happy Thursday!
