trust30 project: day 11

day 11

I once imitated someone who put their whims ahead of my morals and happiness.  Not going to do that again.

And that, as they say, is that.

shakespeare in love

"The natural condition is one of insurmountable obstacles on the road to imminent disaster."

"So what do we do? "

"Nothing. Strangely enough, it all turns out well. "

"How?"

"I don't know. It's a mystery."

trust30 project: day 7

day 7

I'm not old enough to have had too many of my dreams suppressed, but there is something I've been nervous about: growing up.  I'm the youngest in my immediate family, and let's face it, I do live up to the role of being the baby.  I've been very protected, and I've appreciated it and liked it, but now I kind of have to step up.  I'm not totally sure how to go about that.  I do the student thing well, and the youngest-child thing, but being an adult?  Still trying to navigate that.

...are we there yet?

trying something new...

I've been wanting to do some sort of blog-writing challenge for a while now, and when I heard about the Trust30 project from a post on The Wishkeepers Creativity Collective, I got pretty excited about it.  So I'm going to give it a try.  Basically, to celebrate what would be Robert Waldo Emerson's 208th birthday, there are 30 prompts written by a bunch of interesting people (this is a really simplified synopsis, obviously, there are a lot more details on the Trust30 site), and the aim is to answer one every day, either by writing, drawing, journaling-- any sort of creativity.

I've felt lately like I just haven't had anything to say here in blogland.  Which isn't surprising, I guess-- I'm home for the summer and while I'm enjoying the serenity of being somewhere so quiet and peaceful, I don't really do anything worth writing about.  There's a lot of cat-snuggling and knitting involved.  I'm going to be starting the Trust30 project from the first prompt, even though it technically started on May 31st.  So here goes.

Day 1

I know the prompt says 'story,' but if I've only got fifteen minutes left, I'm not going to be writing fiction.  I think I'd try to pass on the things that I've learned.

Don't be so scared all the time.  It isn't worth it to miss all of the opportunities and chances that come your way just to spare yourself some nervousness or embarrassment or hurt pride.  You can heal from pretty much anything, even if it takes some time and you feel like you're never going to be quite whole again.  There are just as many chances for things to go really, really well as there are chances for them to go badly.  Love as much as you can, and try not to go to sleep angry.  Don't worry too much about anything because everything is always in a state of change.  There's no use in regretting the past, try to use it to shape your chosen future instead.  Never despair, despair is only for those who know the future beyond doubt, which nobody does.  There's always hope.  Tell people you love them whenever it occurs to you, it's so much better than wishing you'd said it more often.

If you decide to take part in the Trust30 project, too, leave a link in the comments, I'd love to read your take on it!

Oh, and here's the etsy shop giveaway.  Juuuuust in case you've missed it.

letting go

I came across this on Pinterest the other day, and it was exactly what I needed to read.

There's definitely some anger that I've been holding onto, even though I try to ignore it (my zodiac sign is Cancer, and we are notorious grudge-holders).  Unfortunately, ignoring it means that it shows up at really inopportune moments, usually disguised as anger or sadness about something completely unrelated.  But the person at whom I'd be throwing this metaphorical coal?  We don't speak anymore, my anger isn't reaching them, it's only hurting me.  So rather than repressing it anymore (although I think there would probably be some debate on whether it was ever repressed, given the unholy rage to which this person was subjected), I'm acknowledging it, and then moving on with my life.

**********

In other news, the huge project that I posted a preview of is due on Friday!  I'm almost finished, I just need to put the last little touches on it tomorrow.  But that's why I've been a bit of an absentee blogette, and haven't responded to comments for a few days.  Sorry, lovelies, I promise I'll answer over the weekend.  (And I'll post some more pictures of my project!  I'm so pleased with how it's looking, yay!)

(I couldn't find a source for the image in this post-- if you know it, comment and I'll give credit)

thought

This is just a quick little post, I'm working on another one for later and I have another class soon.  But I thought this quote from Plato was too good not to share.  There's no way to know what's going on in someone else's life.  Be careful with each other.

p.s., if you could vote for Julianne and Jude to win a honeymoon, that would be wonderful!  Read about them in this post, or just go vote for them here!  Thank you so much to everyone who's already voted for them, they're closing in on the lead!  Yay!
