via the little things we do

1. Today is a great day because I had a chance to work on a dress for my leather class-- it's looking so cool!  

2. Tomorrow I will work on finishing up my portfolio for my memoir class and on a presentation for French class on Friday.  So close to the end of the year!

3. My favorite time of day is mid-morning because it's early enough that the whooooooole day is stretched out in front of me and I can get lots of stuff done, but not so early that I'm wandering around with a vaguely dazed expression if I was up late the night before.

4. Sometimes you just have to take a deep breath, have a cup of tea, and have faith that things will work themselves out for the best.

5. A song that I just can't get enough of lately is "House of Cards" by Radiohead.

6. My favorite accessory is a cute scarf or my brown leather belt.  Ooh, or my cute new clogs from Ugglebo Clogs-- aren't they adorable?

7. My favorite thing about this week was the massive relief that came with being done with senior collection.  I wasn't chosen for the show (very, very few people were, the show is very small this year...oh, well.)  but I was really proud of my looks and I'm just so glad that the stress is basically over. Oh, and just a moment ago it started raining and my window is open and the city smells fresh and clean and new.  ...Aaaaaand now it's thundering, so I'm going to go hide under my covers with a book.

senior collection

Yesterday afternoon, all of the fashion design seniors who had at least one look get through prejudging set up our looks in for judging to see which looks will be put into the senior show-- which is taking place as I'm typing this.  Eek!  But I can truly say that regardless of the outcome of judging, whether or not any of my pieces are selected, I'm really proud of my work and of all the fashion design seniors.  We've been working really hard all semester and everything looked amazing set up yesterday!

1. Today is a good day because it's Friday!  We're only a few hours from the weekend!  

2. The best thing I did all week was spend Easter with my wonderful family.  I'm constantly thankful for having been born into such an amazing group of people.

3. The current weather is sunny and cool and it makes me feel refreshed!  

4. The best thing about spring is seeing the flowers and wildlife coming out!  Okay, so in New York the wildlife is a little different than in the woods of Pennsylvania, but it's still nice.  I really like when birds take baths in puddles, I think it's just the cutest thing.  And the other day I was wandering around Soho and saw so many beautiful tulips!  

5. A fashion trenc I'm dying to try out for spring is touches of neon.  I'm usually a pastels-and-neutrals kind of girl, but in hairbow-sized doses, I'm liking adding some neon into my wardrobe.

6. A person who made me smile this week was a girl who lives in the same building that I do-- we were in the elevator and she said "Have a great day!" when I got off at my floor, even though we hadn't said anything to each other the entire elevator ride.  It was so nice!  

7. The most delicious thing I ate all week was easter candy.  C'mon, it's gotta be easter candy.  Let's be serious.

have I mentioned lately how very helpful Bucky is?  I didn't have a chance to take a single thing out of my (wonderful) easter basket before he jumped up to check it out.

I'll be posting my wonderful swap package from Lexie over the next few days!  yay!  Even the box was beautiful.  I've always wanted to get a package wrapped in brown paper.

Still home, still sewing all day every day.

I had originally typed that as 'all day errday' but I wasn't sure how convincing that would be on a pink blog full of sewing kittens.

So here's the latest.

♥Being home is really great. 

♥Senior collection is moving right along, I'm feeling good about where I am with my progress.

♥Yesterday, I got my first set of Knitpicks Options knitting needles.  I love them.  I have three 40" cables for them, which basically means I could sit in the middle and knit a tent around myself if I had the inclination.

♥Bucky (one of my two kitties) scared himself silly by sitting on the foot pedal of my sewing machine this morning, making it start sewing at a frantic pace.  Heehee.

♥Beauty and the Beast is going into the Disney vault on April 30th!  Does that actually mean you can't buy it anymore?  I find the whole 'vault' thing very weird.  ...But yeah, I'm definitely still getting it on DVD just in case.

Back to sewing!

if ice cream, if i cry...

I have ice cream on the brain.

Probably because it's one of the three foods I can manage right now.

Here are a few that look lovvvvvely.

I like being the first person to scoop something out of a smooth surface, like a new jar of peanut butter.  A perfect melon-ball scoop can only make it even better.

chocolate ice cream flowers-- how adorable are these!  when it gets warmer in the city I need to scout out a place that does these.

I don't actually like coffee or coffee-flavored things, but this little ice cream stack is too cute to resist.

strawberry ice cream macarons.  in a berry basket.  I love everything about this.
