so adorable!  I love the hot air balloon embroidery, illusion neckline, and scalloped peter pan collar on this dress.

this tiny book necklace is printed with one of my favorite poems.

these soaps come in the prettiest macaron-pastel shades, and they're 100% vegetable based-- perfect for those of us who have sensitive skin.


This is one of my favorite songs from Flight of the Conchords--I've probably seen it at least twenty times, but it still gives me the giggles.

Can you tell that my finds this week are inspired by the gorgeous spring weather we've been having on the East coast this week?  Its so wonderful to look outside and see flowers instead of snow!

if ice cream, if i cry...

I have ice cream on the brain.

Probably because it's one of the three foods I can manage right now.

Here are a few that look lovvvvvely.

I like being the first person to scoop something out of a smooth surface, like a new jar of peanut butter.  A perfect melon-ball scoop can only make it even better.

chocolate ice cream flowers-- how adorable are these!  when it gets warmer in the city I need to scout out a place that does these.

I don't actually like coffee or coffee-flavored things, but this little ice cream stack is too cute to resist.

strawberry ice cream macarons.  in a berry basket.  I love everything about this.

oh, and the title of this post is a lame pun on this song.  well, it made me giggle.

bon week-end ♥

On Sunday I went on a walk to do some errands...

These beautiful ornamental pear trees are blooming all over the city.  I love them!  So pretty!

...including picking up macarons...

chocolate, french riviera, and strawberry thyme

and then I came home and sewed for the rest of the day.

Except when I was taking breaks to nibble the macarons.

one of my errands was getting that yarn!  yarn-getting errands are ok with me.
also, the chocolate macaron was delicious.  the strawberry thyme one was, too.
the french riviera one?  not so much.  although to be fair, I'm not sure what it was supposed to taste like because I bought it strictly based on prettiness.

And this morning in my senior collection class, I got to see the results of my weekend-of-sewing.

including the two back panels (already finished), the bodice of this dress has 60 rows of fluting.

This was the single most time-consuming element of my entire senior collection, so progress should be much quicker now!  Yay!

fairest of them all ♥

My very, very favorite collection for Fall/Winter 2012 is the Red Valentino line.

I can't get over how beautiful this collection is-- the clothing, the styling, the fairy-tale backgrounds, it's all so perfect.  I love how the models are posed, too, like paper dolls, which is similar how to how I draw the girls in my design sketches.  

sigh. 

 It's all so lovely.

birthday yarn! ♥

I turned 21 today!  First, thank you so, so much for all of the incredibly sweet birthday wishes on Facebook and Twitter.  ♥ They completely made my day.  The other thing that made my day was...birthday yarn!!!

I love my local yarn store, The Gentle Arts, so much to begin with that even going in there makes a day pretty fantastic.  The yarns are wonderful, and they're displayed in such a way that you just can't help touching them.  Oh, and the owner of the shop, Jan, winds the yarn into center-pull balls before it even leaves the store, it's wonderful.  And now I have two more skeins of the lovely green Ushya yarn, by Mirasol.

This is being added to the first skein and made into a hooded scarf.  I have the hood part of it done, now I just need to knit the ends.  It kind of makes me feel like Link from the Legend of Zelda games, and being something of a nerd, I'm really happy about that.

The other yarn that I got is my favorite yarn ever (thus far): Louisa Harding Willow Tweed.  I had some left over from a scarf (which I just realized I never posted pictures of... those will be up later in the week), and so the Field of Flowers blanket started.

Aren't they so sweet?  They remind me of little pastries or something.  One of the things I love about this yarn is that all of the colorways have a similar tone, so any combination of them looks beautiful.  I'm so excited to see how the new colors look as flowers!

my scarf from spotted moth came today!  it's soft and light and the print is so sweet.  and how cute is it that they wrapped it with brown paper and twine?

 I ordered this last night-- yay, so excited!

it's from Spotted Moth. And now it's sold out, looks like I put in my order just in time!

And for no other reason than I keep finding myself looking it up, here is a picture of a ridiculously big cat.  Can you imagine having this guy around?  Like having a fluffy mini-tiger.

heehee.  he looks so nonplussed.
