Impressions Jewelry by Romano Sculpture!

Hi there-- I hope you're having a wonderful week!

Today I'd like to share my mom's new Etsy shop, Impressions Jewelry by Romano Sculpture!  She creates beautiful, unique handmade jewelry using pearls and semi-precious stones.  I'm so impressed by the way she can combine colors and shapes and textures in ways that are completely unexpected and gorgeous.  Her shop officially launched on Sunday, July 13th, and it was stocked with 14 stunning pairs of earrings.

zebra jasper garnet pearl earrings
sunstone pearl earrings semi-precious handmade
The sunstone in this pair has the prettiest subtle sparkle when it catches the light!

Yellow Jade white agate carnelian earrings bohemian boho
earrings black onyx pink pearls romano sculpture
I love my mom's take on the classic color combination of pink, black, and white.  They're a bit feminine and a bit tough.

grey Botswana agate pearl earrings
baroque pearl earrings pink white opalescent mermaid beach wedding bride
This pair is one of my favorites-- the Baroque pearls are so beautiful and I've never seen anything else  like them!

yellow jade obsidian white agate quartzite earrings
smoky quartz coin pearl earrings modern edgy
romano sculpture impressions earrings coin pearls moonstone rose quartz aquamarine pink blue
This pair reminds me of a walk on the beach at night-- the luminous moon shining on bits of beach glass.

blue angelite white coin pearl earrings romano sculpture
back onyx earrings rose gold yellow gold sterling silver handmade
I love this pair-- the combining of sterling silver, rose gold, and yellow gold looks so modern against the sleek black onyx.

amazonite tourmaline pearls black onyx purple violet blue earrings
One of my favorite aspects of these earrings is the mix of textures.  The pearls are polished, but soft, in contrast to the matte finish of the amazonite and the reflective smoothness of the tourmaline and onyx.

zebra jasper carnelian pearl safari earrings bohemian boho
sunstone rosebud pearls green stone earrings handmade beach semi-precious
This pair is no longer in the shop, as they have already sold, but they were one of my favorites and I couldn't resist posting them anyway!

Which pair is your favorite?  If you would like to stay up to date with Impressions Jewelry by Romano Sculpture, add it to your Etsy list of favorite shops so that you can see new pieces as they are added!  Custom work is also welcome-- my mom is happy to work with you to create the perfect jewelry to give as a gift, or to wear for a special occasion! (I've already asked my mom if she will make my bridal jewelry, when the time comes!)

Thank you for letting me share my mom's beautiful new creative endeavor with you-- I am so proud of her and so impressed with her work!

Hello lovelies!

Here's a peek into my life lately.

There's something so pretty about the simplicity of pale pink carnations.

siamese cat looking in mirror Bucky
Bucky has recently discovered mirrors, and he is obsessed with his own reflection.
He gazes adoringly and occasionally gives the handsome cat in the mirror a coy pet with his paw.

Sunset views are one of my (admittedly many) favorite things about my apartment.

Can you believe it's already almost September?!  We're so close to autumn-- my favorite season!  I'm so ready for sweaters and hot tea (which I drink all year, but it'll be extra-cozy when it gets chilly outside) and pumpkins and apples and eventually snow!  I usually don't get excited for winter-- in general I'd rather go from fall straight through to spring, with maybe two weeks of winter.  But my apartment is going to be so much fun to decorate for Christmas that I'm looking forward to it!  I want to hang twinkly lights and watch the claymation Rudolph movie and I have the perfect spot for a tree in my living room.  There will be mistletoe, and my doorways will be festooned with  garlands-- it is going to be a seriously festive event.  I have a sneaking suspicion I'm going to become one of those people who puts up their holiday decorations the day after Thanksgiving.

Have a beautiful day!

so adorable!  I love the hot air balloon embroidery, illusion neckline, and scalloped peter pan collar on this dress.

e.e. cummings book necklace carry your heart
this tiny book necklace is printed with one of my favorite poems.

Claus Porto guest soap pastilles pastel
these soaps come in the prettiest macaron-pastel shades, and they're 100% vegetable based-- perfect for those of us who have sensitive skin.

This is one of my favorite songs from Flight of the Conchords--I've probably seen it at least twenty times, but it still gives me the giggles.

Can you tell that my finds this week are inspired by the gorgeous spring weather we've been having on the East coast this week?  Its so wonderful to look outside and see flowers instead of snow!
Enjoy the rest of your day!

on the needles: bonjour, girl socks

Hi, and happy Friday!
I hope you've had a great week.

bonjour girl open windows hand knit socks
I'm currently knitting on my second pair of socks, in Dream in Color's Smooshy yarn in the "Into the Mystic" colorway.  The pattern is Open Windows, by Rebecca Hickman.  I'm knitting on two size 1 circular needles, and the teeny-tiny needles are making a firm, squishy fabric.  Confession time: this is actually the second sock of the pair.  I was too excited about knitting the first one to stop to take a picture!

beauty and the beast bonjour belle village

I'm calling these my "Bonjour, Girl" socks because the cables and lace remind me of the windows that the villagers in Beauty and the Beast throw open to shout "Bonjour!" to Belle.  But ever since seeing this overdubbed version of the song (which is not exactly child friendly, consider yourself warned), I can't help thinking of the villagers saying "Bonjour, girl" instead.

dream in color smooshy into the mystic sock
Since Dream in Color Smooshy is 100% superwash merino wool, without any added nylon for durability, I switched out the ribbed heel in the pattern for an eye of partridge heel-- the offset slipped stitches make for a doubly thick fabric.  I'm hoping this will help the socks last a long time, and I love how it shows off the different colors in the yarn!  I need to hustle on these socks-- they're supposed to be for this round of Nerd Wars, which ends in six days.  Eek!  I'm increasing for the heel gusset on the second sock, which adds a lot of stitches, but after turning the heel, knitting the leg of the sock goes pretty quickly.  I think I'll be able to get it done without too much trouble.

Have a lovely evening!

much love, monday ♥

Hi!
I hope your week is off to a lovely start.
As I'm writing this, Bucky, my 18-pounds-of-love kitty, has draped himself over my arm and shoulder and he's patting my face as a gentle reminder that it's time for bed.  And he's almost right!  But first, here are a few things I love this week.

This is another of my favorites from Stephen Edwards-- doesn't it just make your heart happy to know  that there are still places in the world that look like this?

sundara yarn spring sparrow sport merino two

sundara yarn robin's nest sport merino two
Sundara Yarn has released two limited edition colors for March.  The top one is Spring Sparrow, and the bottom one is Robin's Nest.  Oh, how I covet this gorgeous, gorgeous wool!

dandelion votive candle
These hand-cut votive holders are so delicate and pretty.  I love that the designs in this set are all based on plants that have gone to seed: fennel, allium, and dandelions.  Seeds are inspiring to me in the same way that acorns are-- so much potential in something so small!

Susanna Bauer crochet leaf
This crochet-edged leaf is so delicate and lovely.

Can you tell that I'm in the mood for spring?
Now it truly is time for me to go to bed-- Bucky has decided that persuading me to go to sleep isn't working quickly enough, so he's decided to lay over my entire keyboard, instead.

I hope the rest of your day is wonderful!
