bookish

There are real, actual, physical books in my room.
YAY!
There are few things that I enjoy buying as much as I enjoy buying books.  I love knowing that there are thousands and thousands of words that I haven't read yet, and finding just the right time and place to read them.  I love the feel of the pages, I love the smell of the glue, I love the feeling of bending back the corner of a page that made a particular impact on me.  I used to be vehemently anti-dog-earing of pages, probably because I was a librarian for about 8 years, but over time I've realized that if someone lends me a book, one of my favorite part is seeing what they've found important enough to mark with a dog-eared page or a penciled-in note.

In case you're curious, my new books are...

Townie by Andre Dubus III
Consider the Lobster by David Foster Wallace
A Supposedly Fun Thing I'll Never Do Again by David Foster Wallace
and
I Drink for a Reason by David Cross.

Have you read any of them?  If you have, let me know, let's talk books!  I have lots and lots of schoolwork to get done before I can settle in for some quality reading time, but I've been sneaking it in here and there.

have a great Saturday!

p.s. anyone in New York going to the Brendan Benson concert tonight?  If so, see you there!  so excited!

    1. Haha, yessss. Even 4 years of fashion school can't get rid of my inner nerd. And yeah! I've never really been into Arrested Development, which David Cross is one of the creators of, but after hearing him on an episode of the WTF podcast I'm excited to read his book.
