kurt vile and j mascis

A couple weeks ago, on the weekend that my family came up, my brother visited a day early and he and I had a really lovely day.  We went to 'Snice in the morning, because we both had work we needed to do, then later on we went to Hummus Place, on South 7th Ave. and Bleecker, for hummus (obviously), and from there we headed over to the Music Hall of Williamsburg for a show.  We saw Kurt Vile and J Mascis (from the band Dinosaur Jr.), and it was one of the most pleasant concert experiences I've ever had.  I hadn't really listened to either musician before.  I think it was one of those rare times (for me, anyway) where seeing someone live before hearing their studio work is a good thing.  Here are two of my favorites by Kurt Vile and J Mascis, respectively.

(This was two days before the show we went to-- there's a video of the same song from that night on youtube, but it's not as clear.  Still cool, though.)

My best-friend-in-the-whole-wide-world Marissa is coming to visit this weekend, and we're seeing The Hold Steady on Friday night.  Yay!  This should be an interesting experience, since Marissa hasn't really listened to them and I turn into something of a wild child at their shows.  (Ok, well, not really wild.  Wild for me.  As in, I bop around and occasionally shout and point at opportune moments.)  Yay, I'm so excited!!!

Hope you're having a great Tuesday!
